Description:

**During the COVID-19 response period, in home care services are limited and program site will be closed until further notice. Staff provides Youtube videos for families that are about activities for children. Staff is working remotely and are available to answer questions.**

Offers temporary care to children with developmental disabilities to relieve responsibilities of caregivers. Families can drop off their children at the program site. Also provides in-home respite care for children. Siblings are also invited to join.

Eligibility:

- Child with a developmental disability, under five years of age
- Receiving Early Intervention (up to age 3) or have an IEP at school

Set Program Fee
$10 for one child
$15 for additional children
Scholarships are available for eligible families.

Volunteer Opportunities:

1. Take A Break In-Home Volunteer: Volunteers must be over 21 years old, (some exceptions depending on experience and training). Complete back ground checks along with training which includes CPR & FA. Volunteers need to be able to provide three to four hours of support each week in the family!€™s home for a six month commitment. Staff will work with the volunteer!€™s availability.
2. Take A Break in the Afternoon Program: Volunteers needed once monthly on Saturday for three hours to supervise and play with children who have special needs and their siblings. The children are five years of age and younger. The program partners with the Special Recreation of Northern Lake County at the Waukegan Douglas Park site. The program runs from September to May. Training is available.
