Description:
Provides state-mandated and County services relating to animal control and animal protection, such as: Low cost Spay/Neuter Assistance to qualified pet owners; Low-Cost Pet Rabies Vaccinations through Lake County veterinarians (All dogs and cats 4 months and older in Lake County are required to be vaccinated against rabies and registered.); and Microchips.
Also offers a variety of other services, which include:
- Emergency rescue of injured and sick stray animals
- Interim shelter and care for stray and unwanted animals and transport to adoption centers
- Maintain a lost and found pet database
- Reuniting lost pets with owners
- Investigations are done regarding nuisance complaints, allegations of animal cruelty or neglect, as well as reports of stray, roaming or injured animals; or dangerous, vicious or biting animals
- Present educational programs to schools and community and civic groups

Eligibility:
Must be a resident of Lake County for all services. For Spay/Neuter Assistance, clients must meet the household income eligibility requirement and pet must be under five years of age. Limited to one animal per household per year.

For Pets Spayed/Neutered
One year rabies vaccination and Lake County tag: $20.00
One year rabies vaccination, distemper and Lake County tag: $25.00
Distemper complex (only): $10.00
Microchip: $15.00
For Pets Not Spayed/Neutered
One year rabies vaccination and Lake County tag: $60.00
One year rabies vaccination, distemper and Lake County tag: $65.00
Distemper complex (only): $10.00
Microchip: $15.00

Documents required:
- For spay and neuter services, residents must provide proof of household income
- For pet clinic services, must provide proof that pet has been spayed/neutered
