Description:
Offers family-based academic advising to help first-generation college-bound students of Waukegan achieve success. Students as young as fifth grade encouraged to apply. Comprehensive college-readiness services include:
- College Access Program (SAT test prep, and help navigating college applications and financial aid)
- Mentoring (offers one-on-one help navigating college applications and scholarships)
- Reading and Math Enrichment
- College Visits
- Career Exploration Visits
- Tutoring (help with homework)
Eligibility:
Must be a student in the Waukegan Public School District (public or private) in grades 5th - 11th.
Must be a first-generation college student. First-generation meaning the parents of the student did not obtain a bachelor's degree from the United States in a traditional path or completed their higher education outside of the United States.
Must be a family committed to having the student attend a four-year college/university.

Volunteer Opportunities:
1. Tutoring - Work with specific student(s) on subject specific homework and other class materials every Saturday from 9:00 AM - Noon.
2. Read to Achieve Tutor - Read with a student(s) one day a week for 45 minutes on Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursday afternoons and/or evenings.
3. Mentoring - Work with a specific student over the course of their high school and college careers to stay on track with achieving academic and life goals.
4. Other - Grant writing, financial advising for families, computer repair, event organizing, marketing/PR
