Description:
Offers $1500 scholarship award for low-income adult students pursuing higher education. Funds may be used for any accredited college or vocational training school. Includes online programs.
Eligibility:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older and enrolled or planning to attend an Illinois accredited higher educational institution or occupational training
- Must meet income requirement of 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. See website for guidelines.

Volunteer Opportunities:
1. Veteran Housing Volunteer: Volunteer crews or individuals are needed to rehab vacant properties. Finished housing units will be available for lease at below-market rental rates to low-to-moderate income Lake County, IL residents. (US Military Veterans with children are a priority for housing.)
2. Youth & Family Services Volunteer: Food Pantry!Annual Holiday Basket Giveaway during December. Volunteers are needed to sort groceries and pack holiday baskets for Lake County families in need. Youth volunteers are welcome.
3. Annual Anti-Poverty Walk: On the 1st Saturday in May, volunteers load and unload tables and chairs, set up & break down tents, and check in walkers at registration. Other volunteers are needed along the 5K route to man water stops and finish-line concession stands
