Description:

Provides rental subsidies for eligible households and pays the landlords directly. Participants find their own housing in the private market that meets the requirements of the program. Clients pay the difference between the rent charged by the landlord and the amount subsidized by the program. The voucher program also has provisions that outline tenant and owner responsibility. Also offers specialized voucher programs for specific populations, including:

- MVP Vouchers: vouchers for individuals with disabilities
- Family Unification Program: vouchers for families who lack adequate housing or youth
ages 18 - 21 years old and left foster care at age 16 years or older
- HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing: vouchers for homeless citizens.

Eligibility:

Must be families or individuals who are low-income and a citizen of the United States. Head of household must be 18 years of age or legally emancipated and at least one family member must have legal residency status in the United States.
