Description:

Offers community gardening activities for people in the community. Provides opportunities for people to learn about planting and caring for a garden and offer samples of foods from the gardens.

Also provides middle-school age youth with the opportunity to learn about the following:
- Sustainable agricultural practices
- Healthy food preparation
- Nutritional eating habits and exercise

Eligibility:

Serve individuals with racial and ethnic minorities, people with limited English language proficiency, undocumented immigrants, and people living close to or below the federal poverty line.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Community Garden Volunteers to assist with activities.

Community Clean Up - Help clean and prep the three gardens for summer planting and programs.

Emergency Food Rescue packing/sorting/distribution - Help distribute hundreds of pounds of food with families in need. Assist with heavy lifting, sorting and packing rescued prepared food into meals for hungry Lake County residents.

Emergency Support Driver - Help deliver emergency food and resources to Lake County families in need.

Afterschool Youth Program - Provide a safe, welcoming place for at-risk Lake County children to find help with homework, fun crafts, sewing, and exercise, healthy snacks and, making connections with neighborhood kids.
