Description:

Offers free, basic tax preparation for low-income households who earned less than $67,000. Taxpayers do not need to be Township residents to use this service.

**The program is open on Saturdays only from February 1, 2025 through April 12, 2025**

This is a drop-off service. Tax return preparation is handled remotely. Taxpayers must drop off all required documents (see below) during program hours. They must return the following Saturday to pick up their completed tax documents.

Eligibility:

- Must be households with income less than $67,000
- Handles basic tax returns only
- Taxpayers do not need to be Township residents to use this service

Intake Process:

- No appointment necessary
- Participants must drop off their tax documents at the Moraine Township Office during VITA program hours only
- Must bring all tax documents, including the required documents listed below
- Tax preparation is handled remotely
- Participants must return the following Saturday to pick up their completed tax documents


Documents Required:
- IRS Form 13614-C (Intake/Interview and Quality Review Sheet); Found here: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f13614c.pdf
- Photo ID for taxpayer and spouse
- Social Security Cards or ITINs for everyone on the tax return
- W-2 Forms
- Any other IRS forms (1099R, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, etc.)
- Child care provider name, address, phone number, and ID number if they want to claim the Dependent and Child Care Tax Credit
- Information/document for education expenses, small business expenses, etc.
- Voided check for direct deposit
- Last Year's Tax Return

Volunteers needed Saturday mornings from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Volunteers have access to online training on the IRS website. Here are the levels of help needed:
- Greeter & document copier (requires certification in Standards of Conduct !€“ about one-hour training on confidentiality and ethics)
- Intake (requires certification in Standards of Conduct and Intake / Quality review !€“ approximately 3 hours of training)
- Advanced Tax Preparation !€“ particularly Spanish Speaking Volunteers - (requires around 20 !€“ 40 hours of online training and certification)
