Volunteer Opportunities:
1. Educational Surrogate Parent - Adults needed to evaluate a resident's Individual Education Plan (IEP) to ensure that it is meeting the child's academic needs. Educational surrogates attend quarterly meetings at the school to review the IEP. They also receive the child's report cards and advocate for the child in terms of his or her educational growth.
2. Greenhouse Tutor - Help out with class projects, our big sales events, and assist the youth as they learn to care for and maintain our beautiful plants at our horticultural center.
3. Chapel Assistance - You may choose to assist the Interfaith Coordinator to prepare for weekly chapel services, prepare craft projects for Religious Education, lead a Bible Study, direct a Children's Chorus or support the worship service with your musical talents. - even take kids to your worship service. The goal for the Religious Services Program is to support students in their spiritual journey, and your volunteerism will help to reach the residents who choose to participate in this program. Training and ongoing support are provided.
4. Pals Mentoring Program - Offering the residents a chance to develop a positive one-on-one relationship with an adult. Pals spend time together visiting on campus, talking on the phone, going on outings, and joining in fun activities for all participating Pals. Pals are a special part of a child's treatment team and are in regular contact with staff and the therapist.
