Description:
Offers one-time financial aid to help township residents prevent eviction or utility disconnection. Also offers assistance for car repairs to employed residents. Provides up to $1000 for individuals and up to $1500 for families. Residents can only apply once every two years.
Eligibility:
- Must be an Ela Township resident 18 years of age or older
- Must be a US citizen or have obtained legal status
- Must not have received emergency assistance in the last two years
- Must apply for all welfare benefit programs prior to requesting township financial assistance

- Mortgage payments
- Proof of income from the past 2 months before application
- Birth certificates and Social Security Card for each member in the household
- Valid ID for each member in the household over 16

- Records of Social Security Benefits
- Copy of applications to other agencies
- Bank account records
- Vehicle titles/Registration
- Marriage Licenses/Death Certificates
- Physician Statements
- All utility bills
