Description:

Offers financial aid to help Township residents avoid loss of home, job, or utilities. Funds are available once every two years and provide help to meet basic needs, including:
- Preventing eviction or past due rent/mortgage
- Preventing utility disconnection
- Work-related expense necessary to getting or keeping a job (for example, uniform or licensing fees)
- Cost of prescription medication

*Amount of assistance determined on a case-by-case basis.
*Program does not disburse cash; all funds will be paid directly to vendors.

Eligibility:

Must be resident of West Deerfield Township for at least 6 weeks and be able to provide proof of emergency hardship
Must not have received Emergency Assistance funds in the past two years
Must not be receiving monthly payments from welfare assistance programs (ok if awaiting decision letter), including:
- Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
- Social Security Income (SSI)
- Aid to the Aged, Blind, Disabled (AABD)
- Refugee and Repatriate Assistance (PRA)

Intake Process:

- Visit website for application
- Call to schedule interview with Township Supervisor and bring all documents to appointment

- Driver's license or State ID
- Utility bills
- Copy of rental lease or mortgage payment
- Paycheck stubs for every member of the family for the last 30 days
- Public aid applications/Medicaid card/Link card
- Social security applications
- Copy of recent bank statements (savings and checking)
- Copy of last year's Income Tax return
- Birth certificates for all family members
- Legal resident card/Green card
- Social security cards for all family members
