Description:
Provide information and referrals to seniors for the following services:
- In-home home care assistance
- Meals on Wheels program
- Housing options
- Assisted living and skilled nursing facilities
- Friendly Visitor program
- Transportation services (PACE Dial-a-Ride, FISH, taxi subsidies and non-emergency hospital transport)
- Referrals to other agencies
Also offers memory screening program to assess for possible mild cognitive impairment and dementia.
Eligibility:
Must be an older adult age 55 years or older and must be resident of Barrington, North Barrington, South Barrington, Lake Barrington, Barrington Hills, Deer Park and Tower Lakes.

Volunteer Opportunities:
1. Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Volunteer - SHIP counselors are trained by the Illinois Division of Insurance to organize and assist in filing Medicare and Medicare Supplement claims and analyze Medicare supplement and long-term-care policies. Counselors also educate consumers and answer questions about Medicare and other health insurance issues. Volunteers must be 55 years & older.
2. Volunteer Drivers - Volunteers drive seniors to the grocery store, pharmacy or to personal care appointments.
3. Home Maintenance - Seniors can often use a helping hand with home maintenance work such as yard work, removing snow or minor home repairs. Volunteers can provide help on an occasional basis or commit to a regular visit.
4. The Friendly Visitor Program - This program matches seniors with a volunteer who visits on a weekly basis. The visit may include help writing letters, shopping, running errands, or simply a cordial visit and conversation.
