Description:
Provides assistance to relative caregivers (kinship caregivers) caring for their relative's children who are not part of the welfare system. Services for relative caregivers includes:
- Obtaining guardianship
- Obtaining the Child Only Grant and other entitlements and benefits
- Enrolling children in school
- Obtaining benefits and entitlements
- Making referrals for other services
Also provides cash assistance to obtain guardianship and meet the child's basic needs
Eligibility:
Must be a resident of Illinois and be relative caregivers including fictive kin (persons the child knew before they child lived with them)

No fee.
Intake Process:
Call 1-800-252-2873. Tell the hotline worker that you are caring for your relative's children, the child is not being abused nor neglected but you need help. Ask to be referred to the Extended Family Support Program.
