Description:
Provides transitional housing with case management services for families who are experiencing homelessness. Clients are equipped with tools to ensure self-sufficiency upon leaving program, including:
- Employment Assistance
- Life Skills Classes
- Financial Stability
- Educational Training
Housing units are located at various sites throughout Waukegan and Zion.
Eligibility:
- Must be Lake County residents
- Must meet government guidelines for low-income based on family size
- Must be currently experiencing homelessness

Intake Process:
Visit website to download application or visit office during program hours. Completed applications can be mailed to the program address and are kept on file for six months.

Interested donors may contact the COOL Family Housing Case Manager for current items needed for the housing guest families. These items vary and storage space is limited.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Unit Prep Crew - Individuals or groups to assist in preparing housing units for new guest families. Tasks include cleaning and painting units. Times vary based on need.
Volunteer Maintenance Crew - Individuals or groups to assist in making minor repairs to housing units. Times vary based on need.
Volunteer Yard Maintenance Crew - Individuals or groups to care for yards, lawns, sidewalks, and driveways. Tasks include mowing, trimming, and snow removal. Times vary based on need.
Volunteer Furniture Movers - Individuals or groups with a truck or trailer willing and able to pick up, load, and unload furniture donations within Lake County. Times vary based on need. Will work around individual schedules.
